Extracurricular music
The Music Department is one of the busiest and most popular places in the school. Outside classes, many pupils take part in a range of music-related activities – whether working towards a performance or an exam, or simply making music for their own enjoyment.
Some of the clubs and activities open to students include:
Jazz Band
In their weekly rehearsals, members of our Jazz Band work on improvisation, listening and ensemble skills with a visiting jazz specialist.
Vocal Group
The popular Vocal Group rehearses weekly and performs a range of songs at recitals, visitors' lunches and community concerts.
Orchestra
Our Orchestra hosts a diverse range of instruments including violin, clarinet, recorder, trumpet, saxophone, keyboard, guitar and drums!
Rock bands
Rock musicians are able to rehearse independently at pre-booked rehearsal times, and have access to excellent equipment and facilities.
Keyboard Club
Our lunchtime Keyboard Club allows pupils who have piano and keyboard lessons to practise their lesson music in a friendly group atmosphere.
Composition Club
Increasingly pupils are interested in composing original music – often using music technology. Our new Composition Club allows students to learn music sequencing and notation software and create their own CDs.
