D'OVERBROECK’S SIXTH FORM CURRICULUM

In Sixth Form at d’Overbroeck’s, Oxford, our students delve deeper into their chosen subjects. As they prepare for university – and start thinking about careers – they become specialists in their fields, typically studying for three or four A-levels.

Your child can also follow the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is the equivalent to half an A-level. This gives them the chance to specialise in a topic or area they’re passionate about.

At d’Overbroeck’s, we offer a choice of 37 A-level subjects. Unlike most Sixth Form private schools, we don’t have fixed option blocks, which means your child can study the subjects they want in any combination. Our timetable is purposefully structured around our students’ preferences, offering an exceptional degree of flexibility.

Choosing the right subjects in Sixth Form is crucial to academic success, and we’ll guide your child through the process. We’ll encourage them to think broadly, even if they have set ideas about what they want to do, and help them to identify higher education and career destinations.

OUTSTANDING SUCCESS

Happy, supported, and doing what they love, our students achieve fantastic A-level results. We’re among the top 5% of Sixth Form schools in the UK when it comes to academic progress, with learners consistently surpassing predicted grades at A-level. Our students’ hard work is reflected in their final grades, with 55% of our class of 2023 achieving A or A* – double the UK average.

SIXTH FORM ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

EXTENDED A-LEVEL PROGRAMME

Students joining d’Overbroeck’s from overseas can sign up for our extended A-level programme. This starts in either the January or April before they’d normally begin Sixth Form.

The additional one or two terms helps them to effectively prepare for Sixth Form at d'Overbroeck's. Following a weekly timetable that includes approximately 10 hours of English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, our international students are set for success on our challenging Sixth Form programme.
