A select group of students from d'Overbroeck's attended this year's highly anticipated NAE-UNICEF Student Summit in Texas, showcasing their dedication to becoming proactive global citizens. This summit is part of the ongoing Nord Anglia Education collaboration with UNICEF, focused on innovation and aimed to empower students through education and advocacy.
Throughout the summit, 125 students from all corners of the world engaged in workshops designed to enhance their advocacy skills, encourage collaborative thinking, and inspire community-driven change. These workshops challenged participants on how they talk to each other, think about the planet, and recognise their own prejudices. A highlight of the event was a visit a roof top farm and helping a food bank, where students formed a production line and packed nearly 1,500 boxes of essentials, providing 19,000 meals to those affected by the recent storms in Texas.
As part of their summit experience, d'Overbroeck's students presented their projects aimed at addressing specific Sustainable Development Goals to a diverse audience, including international peers, educators, and UNICEF representatives. The grand finale featured each school showcasing their plans for social impact projects to be implemented in their local communities over the next 12 months. The atmosphere was filled with tired yet animated students, signing each other’s t-shirts and forming lasting friendships, united by their shared commitment to global improvement and sustainable development.”
